Harry Potter Read-a-thon

A few months ago, my sister and I found out that we would be heading to far away Orlando, Florida for Christmas vacation. We’ve never been to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and it’s been ages (12 years) since we last went to Disney World.

We were both very excited, but it was then that we realized how long it’s been since we last read the Harry Potter books. I have read them four times through by myself and they are, without a doubt, one of my favorite series. Just picking them up transports me back to my childhood.

So we decided then and there: 7 books, 16 weeks.

We immediately picked up my illustrated copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and started reading. When my sister first experienced the books, it was when I read them out loud to her, so we decided to keep with tradition.

11 of our 16 weeks have now passed and we have made it to The Order of the Phoenix.I don’t know if we’ll finish the last three books in our final five weeks, especially with final exams and Thanksgiving coming up, but we are doing our best to push through to the end.

I have been attempting to document our slow journey through the books on my Instagram, and I’m hoping to make another post on our progress before our journey to  Florida. The two of us and our whole family are really looking forward to our first physical experience of The Wizarding World, especially the butter beer!
